Fiji Bati head coach Wise Kativerata is calling for enhanced equality and extended preparation time for Pacific rugby league teams after their recent Pacific Championship campaign. Kativerata highlighted the challenges posed by the limited training period, stating, “World Cup is a different story altogether. As you all know, we’ve got a week to prepare. With the Pacific Championship, we just come in for a week, train and play.” His comments reflect the significant differences in preparation timelines for teams involved in various competitions.
Kativerata also noted the advantages enjoyed by Papua New Guinea, which included more training activities and an additional match against the Prime Minister’s team. “We’ve been trying to ask the NRL to give us the same opportunity,” he mentioned, underscoring the impact that better preparation can have on a team’s performance.
