Justice Filimone Jitoko has been appointed as the new Speaker of the Parliament of Fiji, taking over from Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, who has moved into the presidency. The transition was confirmed during a special parliamentary session, where Jitoko secured 34 out of 49 votes in his favor.
