Fiji’s Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Siromi Turaga, is on a mission to enhance judicial cooperation with the Solomon Islands through a series of meetings in Honiara. His discussions with Solomon Islands Justice and Legal Affairs Minister, Clezy Rore, focused on the recent reforms in Fiji, particularly the introduction of the “Road to Reform: Law and Justice Sector Roadmap 2025–2029,” which sets out a comprehensive plan for modernizing the country’s justice services over the next five years.
During their meeting, both ministers reiterated their commitment to the Twinning Program, an initiative designed to foster professional exchanges and institutional development between the two nations. This agreement underscores the significance of cooperation in addressing common legal challenges and enhancing professional standards in the justice sectors of both nations.
In a courtesy visit to Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer, Turaga discussed the potential for increasing judicial cooperation and improving access to justice throughout the Pacific region. These engagements signify a broader commitment to regional collaboration, which has gained momentum through various partnerships, including a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at bolstering legal cooperation and capacity-building between Fiji and the Solomon Islands.
