The Fijian Government, via the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations, has entered into a Strategic Partnership Program with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO). This agreement underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing productivity, bolstering public sector performance, and fostering sustainable national development.

This new phase of cooperation builds on an existing partnership with the APO, highlighting a results-oriented approach that aligns with Fiji’s national development objectives. Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, Secretary-General of the APO, emphasized that this long-term collaboration reflects a strong synergy between Fiji’s development strategies and essential productivity principles crucial for sustainable economic growth.

Dr. Singawinata reaffirmed the APO’s commitment to aiding Fiji in improving public sector efficiency. Key components of this support include the establishment of a Productivity Commission and the enhancement of training programs through national institutions.

Maritino Nemani, Permanent Secretary for Employment and the APO Director for Fiji, characterized the agreement as a significant milestone. He noted that the program fosters a strategic and results-driven approach to productivity enhancements in both public and private sectors, while simultaneously addressing national sustainability and resilience goals.

Nemani expressed gratitude to national stakeholders for their leadership and dedication and acknowledged the ongoing technical assistance from the APO Secretariat in the development and finalization of the Strategic Partnership Program. This collaboration signals a hopeful path forward for Fiji in achieving its productivity and development aspirations.
