Fiji Airways has entered into a noteworthy partnership with the AFL Gold Coast SUNS by signing a three-year agreement, coinciding with the launch of its new direct flight service between Gold Coast and Nadi, scheduled for June 11, 2026. This collaboration aims to significantly enhance Fiji’s visibility in Australia through various branding opportunities during SUNS home games at People First Stadium, which can attract crowds of up to 20,000 fans.

Paul Scurrah, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, highlighted the crucial role this partnership plays in linking sports and tourism in Australia, which is Fiji’s most vital tourism market. “Australia remains Fiji’s largest tourism market, and the Gold Coast is a natural extension of our network. This partnership not only supports the launch of our new direct service but also promotes Fiji as a premier holiday destination to thousands of Australian travelers each week,” Scurrah stated.

Kicking off on March 2, just ahead of the SUNS’ season opener against the Geelong Cats on March 6, the partnership promises fans an array of Fijian-themed halftime events, cultural performances, and a variety of giveaways throughout the 2026 season.

Mark Evans, chief executive of the SUNS, expressed enthusiasm about the new alliance, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Fiji Airways to our club.” He emphasized that this partnership would significantly enhance the matchday experience for fans and fortify the connection between the Gold Coast and the Pacific region.

To celebrate this collaboration, Fiji Airways is offering limited return fares from Nadi to the Gold Coast, starting at $799 FJD. This initiative serves as a compelling incentive for Australian travelers eager to explore Fiji’s rich culture and stunning landscapes. Overall, this partnership stands to benefit both entities, promoting tourism and fostering community engagement within the region.
