Fiji Airways Names Paul Scurrah New CEO, Signals Transformation Ahead

Fiji Airways has made a significant announcement regarding the future leadership of the airline, appointing Mr. Paul Scurrah as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025. The news was shared by Mr. Nalin Patel, Chairman of the Fiji Airways Group, who expressed confidence in Scurrah’s leadership abilities.

With over 20 years of experience in executive roles within aviation, transport, logistics, and tourism, Mr. Scurrah is well-equipped to lead Fiji Airways through its next chapter. He is recognized for his results-driven leadership style and ability to navigate organizations through transformation, emphasizing cultural growth and operational excellence.

Prior to this appointment, Scurrah was the Chief Executive Officer of Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight operator. His leadership there involved implementing a strategic transformation focused on safety, technology, and sustainability, strengthening the company’s position within Australia’s supply chain. He has also held the role of CEO at Virgin Australia, where he successfully managed the airline’s restructuring amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, preserving vital routes and jobs while positioning the airline for recovery.

Mr. Patel noted that Scurrah’s track record and his focus on stakeholder value make him an ideal candidate for this role. Under his stewardship, Fiji Airways aims to maintain its reputation as the airline of choice in the Pacific region, with a commitment to financial discipline and exceptional customer service.

The transition in leadership comes as Fiji Airways recognizes the contributions of Mr. Andre Viljoen, who has led the airline for a decade. His tenure is marked by impressive growth, including fleet expansion from 12 to 24 aircraft and revenue increases projected from $815 million in 2015 to nearly $1.9 billion in 2024. Viljoen will continue to serve on the Board of Directors, assuring continuity during this transition.

With this leadership change, there is optimism for Fiji Airways as it pursues further growth opportunities and strengthens its commitment to innovation and enhanced service. The organization looks ahead to a promising future in the dynamic aviation sector, nurturing local talent and building upon its established achievements.
