Fiji Airways Names Paul Scurrah CEO to Lead Next Chapter

Fiji Airways has appointed Paul Scurrah as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, with his tenure set to begin on November 1, 2025. The decision was confirmed by Nalin Patel, Chairman of the Fiji Airways Group, following an extensive search process that spanned both national and international candidates.

Bringing over 20 years of extensive executive experience across various sectors including aviation, transport, logistics, and tourism, Scurrah’s credentials are impressive. He has previously served as the CEO of Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight company, and has held top positions at Virgin Australia, Queensland Rail, DP World Australia, and as a founding executive at Rex Airlines.

Patel expressed strong confidence in Scurrah’s leadership skills, especially as the global aviation industry navigates significant challenges. He highlighted Scurrah’s proven track record of integrity and commitment to operational excellence, qualities that align with Fiji Airways’ mission to deliver high-quality service and ensure financial well-being.

The Board of Directors also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing CEO Andre Viljoen, who has led the airline for the past decade. Under Viljoen’s management, Fiji Airways not only expanded its fleet from 12 to 24 aircraft but also saw its revenue soar from FJ$815 million in 2015 to FJ$1.9 billion. His leadership earned the airline various accolades, including a coveted 4-star SKYTRAX rating and recognition as the APEX World Class Airline in 2026.

With Scurrah set to lead Fiji Airways into its next chapter, the airline is poised to emphasize innovation and sustainability, all while enhancing its global reputation. This leadership transition not only marks a significant change for the company but also reaffirms its commitment to growth and excellence in an ever-changing aviation landscape. The developments at Fiji Airways instill optimism about its future, demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence and the potential for sustained growth in the competitive global travel sector, thus contributing positively to Fiji’s status as a key player in international tourism.
