Fiji Airways has issued travel alerts for two of its regional routes, advising travelers of potential disruptions due to fuel shortages at the destination airports. The company has announced that flights to Funafuti will operate under restrictions until January 15, 2026. This limitation requires aircraft to carry extra contingency fuel from Fiji, significantly impacting operational capacity.

Due to the added fuel load, these flights will not be able to operate at their full capacity because of weight limitations. A similar situation applies to the Nadi–Vava’u service, which is facing fuel unavailability until January 9, 2026. The airline has indicated that, in order to comply with weight and balance requirements, passengers along with their checked and standby baggage might be offloaded if necessary. However, affected travelers will be accommodated on the next available flight, depending on operational conditions.

In light of these challenges, travelers are advised to pack essential items and overnight necessities in their hand luggage, adhering to standard carry-on regulations. This guidance aims to ensure that passengers are adequately prepared for any unforeseen delays or disruptions during their journeys.

Overall, Fiji Airways is taking steps to navigate through these temporary difficulties, prioritizing passenger safety and comfort while maintaining flight operations as smoothly as possible.
