Fiji Airways is set to expand its U.S. offerings by increasing its flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Fiji to four times a week starting early next year. This move coincides with the airline’s celebration of achieving a landmark by being recognized within the global top 10 at the 2025 APEX Passenger Choice Awards, despite having a modest fleet of 14 aircraft.
At the APEX/Future Travel Experience conference, Andre Viljoen, the outgoing CEO, highlighted the U.S. as the airline’s most promising market for growth. Currently, the U.S. contributes significantly to the airline’s traffic, accounting for 20% of its travel. Fiji Airways positions itself distinctly as the only airline offering nonstop flights from the U.S. to Fiji, servicing four American cities including Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Los Angeles remains a primary destination with daily service; however, Dallas-Fort Worth is recognized for its potential as a future expansion focus. Fiji Airways initially launched the Dallas route in December of the previous year with three weekly flights, which will soon increase to four. This expansion is supported by Fiji Airways’ strategic partnerships, particularly with American Airlines, facilitated through the Oneworld Alliance, which the airline joined on April 1. This partnership is enhancing connectivity and passenger numbers through the Dallas hub—a significant node for American Airlines.
Fiji Airways’ strategy also aims to introduce new U.S. routes, with Seattle being a potential new destination considering the support from Oneworld partner Alaska Airlines. This expansion aligns with the airline’s efforts to capitalize on inbound leisure travel, predominantly from U.S. tourists visiting Fiji’s tropical allure.
The partnership with American Airlines is not only extending route offerings but enriching customer experiences through a joined loyalty program, further promoting Fiji as an exotic and accessible destination. As the airline shores up its operations in the U.S., it fortifies its commitment to being a key player in the North American market while simultaneously elevating tourism prospects in Fiji.
Fiji Airways’ continuous strategic enhancements signify a robust future in global connectivity, poised to thrive on expanding tourism and business exchanges between the United States and the South Pacific. The focus on U.S. expansion reflects the airline’s pragmatic approach to growth, tapping into lucrative markets while offering competitive and appealing travel options.
