Fiji Airways has unveiled plans to introduce additional flights through Savusavu in response to the upcoming temporary closure of Labasa Airport. The airport is scheduled to close from February 16 to March 27, 2026, as crucial runway strengthening works are undertaken by Fiji Airports.

During this period, all flights to and from Labasa will be suspended. To mitigate travel disruptions, Fiji Airways is set to enhance its services by offering four daily flights between Nadi and Savusavu, alongside three weekly flights connecting Suva and Savusavu for the duration of the airport’s closure.

This expansion in flight availability is designed to assist both residents and visitors who rely on air travel for business, family connections, and essential needs, ensuring steady access to and from Vanua Levu. Travelers with existing reservations to Labasa during this time are urged to contact Fiji Airways or their travel agents to discuss alternative arrangements via Savusavu. Early booking is recommended, as flight demand is expected to increase significantly during this period.

Fiji Airways is dedicated to keeping its customers informed throughout the runway work and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all passengers during this essential maintenance phase. The airline’s proactive approach illustrates its commitment to maintaining connectivity and supporting its community despite the temporary challenges.
