These unique flowers are crafted by artisan Wati Walawala from Nukuni, Ono-I-Lau, who produces 500 flowers every week. The Vau flowers are made from dried hibiscus bark, which undergoes a meticulous process of cutting, soaking in seawater, sun drying, and delicate handcrafting.
The presence of these flowers on Business Class tables symbolizes Uku uku, a Fijian sign of celebration and connection, and is meant to connect passengers with Fiji’s rich culture.
