Fiji Airways has announced the appointment of Mr. Paul Scurrah as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025. This significant leadership change was revealed by Mr. Nalin Patel, Chairman of the Fiji Airways Group, who expressed strong confidence in Scurrah’s capabilities to lead the airline forward.
Mr. Scurrah brings over two decades of experience in executive roles across aviation, transport, logistics, and tourism. He is known for his results-driven approach, adept at steering organizations through transformations while fostering cultural growth and operational excellence. His previous roles include serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight operator, where he spearheaded a strategic transformation focused on safety, technology, and sustainability. Additionally, Scurrah led Virgin Australia as CEO during a turbulent period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, skillfully navigating the airline’s restructuring to preserve critical routes and jobs while positioning it for future recovery.
Chairman Patel emphasized that Scurrah’s strong record and emphasis on stakeholder value make him an excellent fit for the role. This transition comes as Fiji Airways celebrates the achievements of Mr. Andre Viljoen, who has successfully led the airline for a decade. His leadership has propelled impressive growth, with the fleet expanding from 12 to 24 aircraft and revenue projected to rise from $815 million in 2015 to nearly $1.9 billion by 2024. Viljoen will continue to serve on the Board of Directors, ensuring a smooth continuation of leadership during this transition.
