Fiji Ports Corporation Limited actively engaged in the Climate Finance Knowledge Exchange Workshop, which occurred on October 13 and 14 at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva. This event attracted leaders from various government ministries and the private sector to discuss innovative ways to finance Fiji’s climate resilience and sustainable development goals.

The workshop emphasized the need to enhance public-private partnerships to ensure climate finance is inclusive, reliable, and impactful. Fiji Ports Corporation Limited (FPCL) expressed that the workshop aimed to boost the understanding of climate finance and foster collaboration among government and private entities to develop viable projects that can access and mobilize significant climate finance.

FPCL reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable infrastructure and climate-smart investments, stating that collaborative efforts can drive meaningful climate action throughout Fiji and the broader Pacific region. Additionally, the corporation participated in a workshop focused on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory Systems for the Waste Sector, which also took place in October, highlighting its dedication to advancing Fiji’s climate transparency agenda.

This workshop was organized by the Global Green Growth Institute in conjunction with the Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. FPCL recognized the importance of enhancing Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems to align its sustainability practices with Fiji’s broader goals for low-emission and climate-resilient development.

Fiji continues to take proactive measures to address climate change challenges, integrating sustainability into its operations and practices. With the support of initiatives aimed at increasing climate finance, Fiji demonstrates a hopeful trajectory towards a sustainable future.
