The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team is poised to unveil its final roster for the Singapore 7s tournament, just a week after competing in the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s. This announcement was made by head coach Osea Kolinisau during a press briefing following a training session at Albert Park in Suva.

As the squad gears up for the Singapore event, Kolinisau indicated that a selected number of players will head to Singapore while others will feature in the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s. Notably, players who do not make the final squad will remain active in their fitness routines to ensure they are prepared for future opportunities.

Kolinisau highlighted the significance of game exposure for newer players within the national setup, stating, “The boys that are not playing will still do fitness,” underscoring his commitment to the holistic development of the team. The upcoming competition at the Coral Coast is particularly vital for grassroots players as it offers them a platform to compete against strong international opponents, fostering their growth and experience.

Following the holiday break, the squad has returned to rigorous training, focusing on enhancing their fitness and refining tactical skills after participating in the initial legs of the series in Dubai and Cape Town. This blend of experienced athletes and emerging talent reflects the team’s strategic approach as they prepare for the rigorous challenges on the horizon.

The anticipation for the Singapore 7s builds as the team works diligently towards their goals, marking a hopeful and determined path forward for Fiji’s rugby aspirations.
