Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau has announced that the team has successfully acclimatized in Vancouver as they gear up for the upcoming round of the HSBC SVNS Series this weekend. The squad, which arrived in Canada last Saturday, has been dedicated to adjusting to the cooler climate while adhering to a rigorous training schedule.

Kolinisau explained the meticulous organization of the week to facilitate the players’ adaptation to their new surroundings. “We arrived on Saturday and it was a bit cold for us. It was nice weather we said, but it was still a bit cold for us, so we tried to get the boys acclimatized really well,” he shared.

After landing, the team began with a light recovery session and progressively increased the intensity of their training as the week advanced. “We had a flush on Saturday afternoon when we arrived and Sunday we had a ground session just to get the boys running and familiarizing them with the weather,” Kolinisau noted.

The head coach remarked on the team’s health, indicating that they have remained injury-free throughout their training week and are eager to compete. He emphasized the demanding training schedule, stating, “Monday we had a double session, a gym and rugby, Tuesday one rugby session and today another rugby session in the morning. No injuries, the boys are acclimatizing really well and looking forward to the weekend.”

The Vancouver 7s event starts this weekend, with Fiji’s men’s team scheduled to play France in their opening pool game at 7:19 AM on Sunday, followed by a match against Argentina at 11:07 AM, and wrapping up day one against Australia at 2:56 PM. Fans are encouraged to watch all of Fiji’s matches live on FBC TV. As the team prepares to display their talents on the international stage, the excitement builds, and there is a hopeful anticipation for a strong performance.
