Fever’s Streak Ends: Lynx Lock in Playoff Spot Amid Dramatic Showdown

The Indiana Fever faced a setback in their rematch against the Minnesota Lynx, losing 90-80 at the Target Center on Saturday evening, which ended their two-game winning streak. With this victory, the Lynx secured a playoff berth, while the Fever’s record fell to 13-16, keeping them in seventh place in the WNBA standings, just ahead of the Sky at 11-17.

The Lynx’s Napheesa Collier, a standout and MVP candidate, played a vital role in the outcome. Previously, the Fever had triumphed over the Lynx while Collier was sidelined with a foot injury, but she returned in full form this game. Collier demonstrated dominance on the court, finishing with 31 points on 12-of-18 shooting and contributing significantly to her team’s success.

Fever forward Temi Fagbenle made a noteworthy return after struggling with injuries earlier in the season. Despite having a thumb injury, Fagbenle positively impacted the Fever’s defense upon her return, helping to close a 12-point deficit to just one by halftime. She logged 16 minutes, scoring two points and grabbing five rebounds.

Another player to highlight is Fever guard Lexie Hull. Known for her defensive skills, Hull found herself contributing offensively as well; she played 25 minutes and helped on defense, particularly against Collier and Lynx guard Kayla McBride. Meanwhile, rookie Caitlin Clark made history by becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach over 500 points and 200 assists, finishing the game with 23 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and seven turnovers.
