Fever Ignite Playoff Hopes with Dominant Win Over Sky

The Indiana Fever showcased a stunning performance as they defeated the Chicago Sky 93-78 at the United Center on July 27, 2025. Kelsey Mitchell led the charge with a season-high 35 points, marking her ninth career game with 30 or more points. Rookie Makayla Timpson also made a significant impact, scoring a career-best 14 points, while Chloe Bibby added eight points in her debut with the team.

The Fever started strong, establishing a commanding 26-13 lead after the first quarter, largely thanks to Mitchell, who scored 13 points, including three three-pointers. Indiana maintained its lead in the second quarter, bolstered by contributions from Aari McDonald and Aliyah Boston, leading to a 51-39 score by halftime.

The team continued to dominate through the third quarter, finishing it with a score of 75-61, aided by a buzzer-beater from Lexie Hull. In the closing moments, the Fever sealed their victory with a decisive 9-0 run in the final minutes.

In noteworthy player achievements, Kelsey Mitchell recorded her 200th career steal in the first quarter, becoming the seventh player in franchise history to reach this milestone. Additionally, she exceeded 500 points for the season in just 26 games, marking the fastest any Fever player has achieved this milestone, surpassing Caitlin Clark’s previous record of 29 games set in 2024. Mitchell’s performance extended her double-digit scoring streak to an impressive 26 games, making her the second player in the WNBA this season to reach the 500-point mark, alongside Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier.

Aliyah Boston also shone, recording her 35th career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, her 11th of the season.

Looking ahead, the Fever will return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to face the Phoenix Mercury on July 30 at 7 p.m. ET, with the game broadcast on ESPN3 and locally on FanDuel Sports Network.

This victory showcases the Fever’s growth and potential, with emerging talent and strong performances positioned to enhance their playoff hopes.
