The ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) recently showcased the vibrant and diverse accomplishments within Fiji’s tourism industry, a celebration marked with glitz and glamour at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wailoaloa, Nadi. This year’s event was particularly significant, as it handed out a record 25 awards, affirming its status as a cornerstone of economic development in the region.
With the theme “Echoes of Fiji,” the night was dedicated to recognizing the hard work and innovation of individuals and businesses that contribute to Fiji’s flourishing tourism landscape. FETA board chairperson Debra Sadranu emphasized the importance of this celebration for acknowledging the substantial achievements within the industry over the past season.
Among the noteworthy winners were Mark and Janice Hinton, who received the Visionary Award, and Narend Kumar, honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Other awards included the Dixon Seeto Tourism Leader awarded to Kolora Mason, and the Employee Excellence in Service award presented to Sawani Hoyt from Tropica Island Resort. Rising Star Akshay Avin Chand and Cultural Tourism Champion Eroni Bole of Rosie Holidays were also celebrated for their outstanding contributions.
The awards highlighted various sectors of tourism, with accolades for community involvement going to Nanuka Island Resort for its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts and Kaibu Fiji Private Island recognized for Environmental Sustainability. The event also celebrated excellence in food tourism, dive operators, and wedding services, underscoring the broad spectrum of experiences that Fiji offers.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiated the event, demonstrating the government’s support for the tourism sector’s continued growth. As Fiji looks towards the future, the achievements recognized at FETA remind us of the resilience and creativity that fuel the industry.
