To enhance safety, law enforcement has deployed officers across major towns and cities, focusing on monitoring nighttime activities to prevent alcohol-related offenses. Acting Police Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga stressed the importance of young individuals taking charge of their own safety and future. He stated, “Minors, please stay home and engage in activities that will benefit you. Consider your career and future. Once you find yourself in conflict with the law, we will apply the full extent of the law, which can jeopardize your career and life.” Lutunauga identified alcohol as a major factor contributing to crime and disorder, particularly during the holiday season.
With the festive period traditionally marked by an increase in nightlife-related incidents, Lutunauga reassured that additional manpower has been allocated to monitor nightclubs and urban areas effectively.
Nightclub owners are also stepping up their commitment to responsible service. Albert Chand, a venue owner, mentioned the implementation of stricter security measures aimed at preventing minors from entering. “We need to be very particular and responsible about who we serve alcohol to. Our security team, including an overnight manager, is on hand to ensure compliance,” he emphasized.
