Residents of Brevard County may experience some minor delays this afternoon due to the annual Hanukkah Parade. This festive event features a procession of 100 cars, all adorned with an eight-branch menorah, traveling from Satellite Beach to Viera.

The parade is part of a larger celebration for the eight-day Hanukkah festival, culminating at Chabad Viera on Lake Andrew Drive. Attendees can look forward to The Snow Festival, which includes activities like food, acrobatic performances, and the ceremonial lighting of a giant menorah.

The Chabad of the Space and Treasure Coasts, located in Satellite Beach, is organizing the event and has increased its public menorah displays across several key cities in Brevard, including Melbourne, Indialantic, and Satellite Beach, to honor the holiday spirit.

Rabbi Mendel Osdoba of the Chabad, one of the event organizers, emphasized the significance of the menorah as a universal symbol of freedom and diversity. He noted that displaying the menorah fosters pride in one’s culture and ethnicity, spreading joy and inspiration among people from all backgrounds.

The car caravan will start at the Chabad location on State Road A1A and proceed to U.S. 1, reaching Chabad Viera around 4:30 p.m. There, the Snow Festival will begin, with the menorah lighting set to take place just before sunset at around 5:30 p.m.

This event not only celebrates Hanukkah but also serves as a reminder of community unity and the rich tapestry of cultural diversity that exists in Brevard County. The joyful gatherings and shared traditions foster a sense of belonging and connection among residents, making this celebration a highlight of the season.
