Ferris State Men’s Basketball Names Interim Head Coach Ahead of Season as Program Seeks Permanent Leader

The Ferris State Men’s Basketball team is experiencing another change in leadership for the second time this offseason. Initially, Bobby Pietrack was appointed to replace Andy Bronkema, who left in May to become the head coach at Central Michigan. However, Pietrack, citing personal reasons, has decided to step down before the season’s commencement, leaving the position open once again.

Alex Fodness, who was brought on as an assistant by Pietrack, will now step in as interim head coach for the upcoming season. Fodness comes with a noteworthy background, having served as the head coach for Minnesota State Community and Technical College during the 2021-2022 season. Furthermore, he has spent the last three years gaining experience as an assistant coach at Bemidji State University in Minnesota, a Division 2 program.

The Bulldogs are set to kick off their season in November, under the temporary leadership of Fodness as the team looks forward to a national search for a permanent head coach following the season. This swift change can bring unexpected opportunities and challenges for the team as they gear up for the upcoming games. The players and rest of the coaching staff will be adjusting to this new dynamic, and Fodness’s previous head coaching experience could prove invaluable in managing the transition.
