ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened applications for assistance to support those impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred in St. Louis during late April and mid-May. President Donald Trump granted federal aid for this disaster on Monday, bringing hope and relief to the affected communities.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe reported that the state’s request for assistance related to the storms on April 29 totals over $16.5 million and benefits residents in Barry, Greene, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, and Washington Counties. Individuals affected by the tornadoes on May 16 can find assistance available in the City of St. Louis as well as St. Louis and Scott counties.
For the tornadoes, the governor has requested more than $57.9 million for Public Assistance expenses and at least $18.7 million designated for Individual Assistance needs, following assessments conducted by FEMA. Eligible residents can receive up to $43,600 for housing assistance and an additional $43,600 for other necessary expenses.
