Mayor Eric Adams and Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) Commissioner Robert S. Tucker have expressed deep sorrow over the line of duty death of Firefighter Patrick D. Brady, 42, who dedicated 11 years of service to the department. On Saturday, November 8, while battling an all-hands fire at 9407 Kings Highway in Brooklyn, Firefighter Brady experienced a medical emergency that led to cardiac arrest. Despite receiving immediate care from his fellow firefighters and FDNY EMS, he was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he ultimately passed away.

“Firefighter Patrick Brady gave his life protecting the city we all love; there is no sacrifice that is more selfless than the actions that took place this evening,” Mayor Adams stated. He highlighted that Brady came from a lineage of firefighters, all devoted to ensuring the safety of New Yorkers. The mayor extended heartfelt condolences to Brady’s wife, Kara, and his entire family during this challenging time.

Commissioner Tucker also conveyed the profound grief felt within the FDNY community, describing Brady as a committed public servant who carried the legacy of firefighting in his blood. “We are thinking of his family, friends, and fellow members as we join them in mourning this immense loss,” he remarked.

Firefighter Brady began his journey with the FDNY on July 14, 2014. After completing training at the Fire Academy, he was first assigned to Engine 227 in Brooklyn before transferring to Ladder 120 in 2022. He resided in Queens and leaves behind his wife, Kara, and two brothers, Jimmy and Brian, who are also firefighters with the FDNY, alongside several family members in the department.

Brady is remembered as the 1,163rd member of the FDNY to die in the line of duty, following the recent death of Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman. Plans for his funeral are currently in the works, as the department and the city mourn the loss of a dedicated hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his community.
