On December 3, marking the International Day of People with Disabilities, FC Barcelona reaffirms its dedication to enhancing accessibility and inclusion. Throughout the past year, the club has rolled out numerous initiatives through its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department aimed at ensuring that individuals, regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges, can access its facilities, services, and information in a safe and autonomous manner. These efforts align with FC Barcelona’s long-standing commitment to championing the rights and well-being of people with disabilities, fostering a society that embraces inclusivity.

Among the most notable advancements are the inclusive mannequins introduced in Barça Stores, which depict a variety of body types and abilities, including models in wheelchairs and those with prostheses or hearing aids. This initiative underscores the club’s focus on representation and inclusivity.

In addition, the Palau Blaugrana has launched a designated area for wheelchair users, providing seven new accessible seats, each accompanied by space for a companion. To streamline the ticket purchase process for these seats, FC Barcelona has implemented a new online sales system.

In terms of sensory accessibility, enhancements have been made to the Barça Immersive Tour, including the installation of a magnetic loop and the availability of multimedia audio guides. New measures have also been established at the Barça Museum with the initiative ‘Hores + Tranquil·les,’ which offers a quieter environment on Saturdays from 3 to 5 pm for visitors with autism or sensory sensitivities.

Furthermore, the club has subtitled its anthem on video scoreboards throughout its venues to improve the match-day experience for those with hearing disabilities.

To ensure digital content is also accessible, FC Barcelona has conducted audits and provided training to staff on various digital development aspects. This is part of a broader effort to enhance the inclusivity of their online platforms.

The club has formed partnerships, notably with ONCE, to advance accessibility measures at the new Spotify Camp Nou. Activities celebrating the International Week of People with Deafness included the participation of children from the Catalan Association of Families and People with Deafness and performances in sign language.

During the gala commemorating its 125th anniversary, FC Barcelona presented sensory relief items for blind children and facilitated access to the live broadcast of the event with subtitles and sign language interpretation.

As FC Barcelona continues to set new standards in accessibility and inclusion, these initiatives not only improve the experience for fans but also contribute to a more equitable society. The club’s ongoing commitment is a hopeful reminder that inclusivity can be achieved, promoting a world where everyone has the opportunity to engage fully in all aspects of life.
