As FC Barcelona celebrates its 125th anniversary and 30 years of its Foundation, the club is launching a charity initiative that embodies its motto “More than a Club.” This campaign emphasizes the ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ (Blaugrana wristbands) project developed by the FC Barcelona Foundation, aimed at enhancing the welfare of children and young adults who are hospitalized or receiving palliative care at home due to serious illnesses.
The heartwarming campaign video features members from the Barça professional teams, FC Barcelona Foundation president Joan Laporta, Dr. Marta Segú, the Foundation’s director general, the new mascot CAT, and acclaimed director and writer Albert Espinosa, known for the series “Polseres Vermelles,” which inspires this initiative. The participation of these prominent figures demonstrates a unified commitment to supporting those in need during the holiday season.
Throughout the video, participants showcase the blaugrana wristbands to symbolize the community’s collective endeavor to assist children and young people facing tough health challenges. These wristbands represent not merely an accessory but also the dedication of FC Barcelona to uplift the spirits of those suffering by mimicking the laces of the athletes’ boots, emphasizing the club’s solidarity and care.
The ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ project works alongside children’s hospitals in Catalonia and beyond, focusing on humanizing the care provided to seriously ill children and young adults. The initiative aims to improve emotional support during hospital stays and strengthen innovative treatments alongside conventional medical solutions.
Espinosa, who overcame a serious childhood illness, will serve as an ambassador for the program, using his experiences to inspire and guide children and young adults participating in the initiative.
Blaugrana wristbands will be available for sale at a price of €9.99 starting Friday, December 20, with proceeds directed entirely towards the Blaugrana Wristband project. While deliveries will begin at the end of January, the act of purchasing a wristband stands as a testament to fans’ commitment to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
This noble endeavor not only showcases FC Barcelona’s rich traditions of philanthropy but also encourages the entire community to rally together in support of those who are most in need, fostering a spirit of hope and resilience in challenging times.
