In a year marked by significant milestones, FC Barcelona is celebrating its 125th anniversary along with 30 years of its Foundation. To honor these achievements, the club is launching a charitable campaign that embodies the spirit of ‘More than a Club,’ aiming to instill pride among its supporters while promoting a noble cause.
Central to this initiative is the ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ (Blaugrana wristbands) project, designed by the FC Barcelona Foundation. The goal is to enhance the welfare and quality of life for children and young adults facing serious illnesses, particularly those receiving treatment in hospitals or palliative care at home.
The campaign features a video that showcases various members of the Barça professional teams, including the club’s president, Joan Laporta, Dr. Marta Segú, the Foundation’s director, and the newly introduced mascot, CAT. Notably, the video also features Albert Espinosa, a renowned director and writer known for the TV series “Polseres Vermelles,” which served as inspiration for this project.
This collaborative effort brings together athletes and significant figures from the club, emphasizing a unified mission to support a charitable cause. Throughout the video, participants proudly display the blaugrana wristbands, symbolizing the collective effort of the Barça community to aid children and young adults in distress. These wristbands not only serve as a fashion statement but also represent a deeper commitment to helping those in need, reflecting the laces of the athletes’ boots and the club’s dedication to aiding youngsters through their challenging circumstances.
The ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ project actively collaborates with pediatric hospitals in Catalonia and beyond, focusing on enhancing the emotional well-being of affected children and their families during hospital stays. It aims to create a nurturing environment conducive to healing and introduce groundbreaking complementary treatments alongside traditional therapies.
Albert Espinosa, a testament to resilience after overcoming a serious illness in his youth, is set to play a pivotal role as an ambassador of the program. He will help devise various initiatives and share his personal journey with the involved children and young adults.
Starting from December 20, the blaugrana wristbands will be available for purchase at €9.99, with proceeds directly benefiting the Foundation’s efforts. Although delivery will only begin at the end of January, the anticipation for these symbolic items highlights the commitment of Barça fans towards making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
This initiative not only brings hope and support to those facing difficult health challenges but strengthens the bond within the Barça community, showcasing the power of solidarity and compassion in uplifting lives. Through the ‘Polseres Blaugranes’ project, FC Barcelona embodies its ethos of being ‘More than a Club’ by actively contributing to the welfare of the next generation.
