FC Barcelona Expands Retail Footprint with New Airport Store in Madrid

FC Barcelona has continued to grow its retail presence with the official opening of its second Barça Store in Madrid, coinciding with the first team’s match against Rayo Vallecano. The inauguration took place with the attendance of President Joan Laporta, Vice-President Rafa Yuste, and other club officials. The first Madrid store was launched in December 2022 and is noted for its high revenue, located at C/Arenal 9, near the historic Palacio de Gaviria and close to the iconic Puerta del Sol.

The new store, covering 140 square meters, is situated on the first floor of Terminal 4 at Madrid Barajas Airport, making FC Barcelona the only football club with a proprietary store in this major hub. As Spain’s busiest airport, it presents an opportunity for the club to reach fans globally, offering products ranging from team jerseys and training gear to exclusive merchandise designed for supporters of all ages.

With this latest opening, FC Barcelona now operates 14 proprietary stores, eight of which were opened in the 2022/23 season, including those at key locations in Barcelona such as Canaletes and Passeig de Gràcia. The club also manages several stores in El Corte Inglés and has a presence in Palma.

The strategic management of the club’s retail operations was revamped in June 2018 with the creation of BLM (Barça Licensing & Merchandising), focusing on enhancing brand control and expanding merchandising rights.

In total, the club has 14 proprietary stores, including those at Spotify Camp Nou, various locations in Barcelona, and the new T4 store at Madrid Barajas Airport. Additionally, there are four franchise stores located in Palma, Salou, Platja d’Aro, and Ronda Universitat in Barcelona.

Moreover, the Barça Store at Barcelona airport’s Terminal 2 was recently relocated to a more accessible location, a change implemented by AENA to improve service for travelers at Spain’s second-largest airport.
