On December 3, International Day of People with Disabilities, FC Barcelona reaffirmed its dedication to accessibility and inclusion for individuals with disabilities. Over the past year, the club has initiated several programs through its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department, ensuring that all people—regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges—can access its facilities, services, and information autonomously and safely. These efforts contribute positively to a more inclusive society.
As part of its commitment to diversity, FC Barcelona has introduced inclusive mannequins in its official stores, showcasing a range of representations including models in wheelchairs, with prostheses, cochlear implants, and glasses. This promotes inclusivity and reflects the diversity of society.
In the Palau Blaugrana, a new area has been created specifically for wheelchair users, featuring seven accessible seats that come with additional space for an accompanying person. The club has also implemented a new online ticket sales system for easier access to PMR seats across all facilities.
For those with hearing and visual impairments, FC Barcelona has made enhancements to the Barça Immersive Tour by installing a magnetic loop and offering multimedia audio guides with subtitles in multiple languages. Noise-cancelling headphones are available for children and individuals with autism or heightened sensitivity.
The Barça Museum has adopted a ‘Quieter Hours’ initiative on Saturdays from 3 to 5 pm, providing a more serene environment for visitors with autism, sensory sensitivity, or intellectual disabilities. Trained staff members focus on cognitive accessibility to support these visitors better.
In a move to improve overall experience for the hearing-impaired, FC Barcelona has included subtitles for the Barça anthem on video scoreboards across its venues.
To enhance digital content accessibility, the club has conducted audits and provided training for its staff on creating accessible graphic and web content.
In partnership with ONCE, the club is working to promote accessibility in the new Spotify Camp Nou and has celebrated recent events focused on the deaf community, such as the International Week of People with Deafness, showcasing performances in sign language.
During the gala for FC Barcelona’s 125th anniversary, the club highlighted its commitment to inclusivity by presenting sensory relief paintings for blind children and providing live event options with subtitles and sign language for the hearing-impaired.
On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, FC Barcelona continues to set new standards in accessibility and inclusion, ensuring both physical and digital spaces remain welcoming and accessible to everyone.
This commitment not only enhances the club’s community engagement but also sets an inspiring example for other organizations, demonstrating that inclusivity enriches everyone’s experience and contributes to a positive societal change.
