On December 3, coinciding with the International Day of People with Disabilities, FC Barcelona reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing accessibility and fostering inclusion within the club. In the past year, the club’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department has implemented a range of initiatives aimed at ensuring that individuals of all abilities can access its facilities, services, and information safely and autonomously. This commitment not only promotes the well-being of people with disabilities but also supports the broader goal of cultivating a more inclusive society.

Among the key physical accessibility features introduced is the addition of inclusive mannequins in Barça Stores, showcasing a diverse representation of society through models in wheelchairs, using prostheses, cochlear implants, and glasses. This initiative aims to celebrate the variety of bodies and abilities.

The Palau Blaugrana has also seen enhancements with a new area designated for wheelchair users, which includes companion seating. This evolution, coupled with an updated online ticket sales system for accessible seating, aims to ensure matches are enjoyable for all.

Sensory accessibility has been upgraded as well, particularly on the Barça Immersive Tour, where enhancements for those with hearing and visual impairments have been made. These include a magnetic loop, multimedia audio guides, and noise-cancelling headphones for individuals with high hearing sensitivity. Additionally, the Barça Museum has introduced ‘Hores + Tranquil·les’—a calmer environment for visitors with autism and sensory sensitivities every Saturday afternoon.

Digital accessibility is another priority, with audits conducted on online materials and training provided to staff to enhance accessibility in graphic design, web content, and subtitling.

Supporting partnerships, FC Barcelona has collaborated with ONCE to promote accessibility in the new Spotify Camp Nou and celebrated the International Week of People with Deafness through various related activities. A noteworthy event was the 125th anniversary gala, where sensory relief items and multimedia content were made available to enhance participation for blind children and the hearing-impaired community.

With ongoing efforts to establish high standards for accessibility and inclusion, FC Barcelona is taking significant strides to ensure that everyone can feel welcomed and valued in their spaces, both physical and digital. These initiatives reflect a hopeful and inspiring commitment to making sports accessible to all, setting an example for other organizations to follow.

In summary, FC Barcelona’s comprehensive approach illustrates the positive impact that inclusive practices can have on communities, showcasing a commitment to equal opportunities for all.
