Fast Food Wars: McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended Amid Rising Prices

McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo from the chain. The promotion, which initially launched on June 25, will be available at approximately 93% of U.S. locations, although the duration may vary by restaurant, with some opting to continue the offer until August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Following the launch of the bundle, foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, suggesting strong consumer interest.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to introduce their own competitive offers. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray, recently announcing a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Meanwhile, in late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, in addition to launching new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
