Fast food chain McDonald’s will extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo noted by Bloomberg, a majority of U.S. McDonald’s locations have opted to continue the promotion, which first debuted on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at about 93% of restaurants across the country, though the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some locations planning to keep the deal until August.
As consumers face higher food prices and navigate tighter budgets, McDonald’s promotion appears to be effective. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in restaurant visits shortly after the bundle was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.
In response, other fast casual dining chains are reacting to the competitive atmosphere by introducing their own deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced it would offer a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King plans to extend its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the McDonald’s promotion, and earlier this month, it unveiled new items from its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the competitive pricing strategy, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
