McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to reports citing a memo from the fast food giant. The promotion, which initially launched on June 25, has received broad approval from U.S.-based McDonald’s locations, with approximately 93% of restaurants set to continue offering the deal. The duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some restaurants possibly extending it until August.
The decision to keep the meal deal active comes as consumers face rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector. McDonald’s has seen positive results from the bundle, with data from analytics firm Placer.ai indicating a significant increase in foot traffic to its restaurants shortly after the promotion was introduced.
The success of McDonald’s meal deal has sparked competition among other fast casual dining chains. In response, Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also announced its $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, adding to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King recently indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering. Recently, Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag” as part of its promotional strategy.
