McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as reported by Bloomberg based on an internal memo from the fast-food giant. Initially launched on June 25 for a four-week period, the promotion will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, although the duration may vary from place to place, with some extending the offer until August.
This move comes amid rising food prices that have strain on consumers, particularly those looking for affordable dining options. The $5 bundle has proven to be effective, attracting more customers. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a notable increase in visitors to McDonald’s restaurants following the introduction of the deal, indicating strong consumer interest.
The successful promotion has prompted competitors in the fast casual dining sector to respond with their own value offerings. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In addition, Burger King earlier revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would last beyond McDonald’s promotion, while also planning to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated in the competitive pricing with a $3 breakfast bundle and a new $5 combo, the “Biggie Bag.”
