Fast food leader McDonald’s has announced an extension of its popular $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have chosen to continue the promotion, which originally launched on June 25 for four weeks.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some restaurants planning to maintain the offer until August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be successful. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a notable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the meal bundle was introduced, highlighting its appeal among diners.

The success of McDonald’s has prompted other fast casual dining chains to join the competitive pricing war. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent value menu with items priced at $1.99. Taco Bell has also gotten involved, offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King has indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will continue longer than McDonald’s promotion and has announced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has introduced its own deals, including a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
