McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal promotion for a few more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The initial four-week offer, which started on June 25, has seen widespread approval among U.S.-based McDonald’s locations, with approximately 93% of restaurants continuing to participate in the deal. The duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers struggle with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a noticeable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the promotion’s launch, signaling that the offer is appealing to diners.
The success of McDonald’s bundle has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also joined the fray in June, launching a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and various offerings from its Cravings Value Menu.
Moreover, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would run longer than the McDonald’s promotion, with plans to introduce new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the competitive landscape by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
