McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. Most locations in the United States have opted to continue the promotion, which was originally launched on June 25, beyond its initial four-week timeframe. The offer will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, with the duration of the promotion varying by location; some franchises have decided to keep it available until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, this McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be successful for the company. A recent analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that there was a notable increase in visits to McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the implementation of the bundle, reflecting its popularity among customers.
The deal has prompted other fast casual restaurants to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has announced a $9 bundle, while Sonic introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King has also responded, stating that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will remain available longer than McDonald’s offering. Earlier in June, Burger King announced the addition of new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and has also rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
