McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to Bloomberg, which referenced a memo from the restaurant chain, most McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to keep the promotion going beyond its initial four-week launch, which started on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the specific duration of the offer may differ by location. Some outlets have chosen to continue the promotion until August.
This extension comes at a time when many consumers are feeling financial pressure due to soaring food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The McDonald’s bundle has proven to be beneficial for the company, attracting more customers during a downturn in discretionary spending.
In recent days, analysis from foot traffic firm Placer.ai revealed that McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in visitors following the launch of the $5 deal, indicating its popularity among patrons.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has spurred other fast casual dining establishments to enhance their offerings. For instance, Arby’s introduced a $9 meal deal, while Sonic launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also participated in the competitive pricing with a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and a $5 Taco Discovery Box, along with its Cravings Value Menu.
Moreover, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer. In addition, the chain plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
