McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be extended for a few more weeks, following its initial launch on June 25. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of U.S. locations agreed to continue the promotion, which will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide. However, the duration of the offer may differ depending on the location, with some restaurants opting to extend it until August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a notable increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion was introduced, indicating its appeal.
The success of McDonald’s meal deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own competitive offers. Arby’s has initiated a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has launched a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In addition, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, and it plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the discount trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
