McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. This promotion, which initially launched on June 25, is set to continue at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, although the duration of the offer may vary by restaurant, with some extending it into August.
The $5 bundle comes at a time when many consumers are feeling the pinch from rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making this deal appealing. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai recently reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s outlets following the launch of this promotion, indicating strong consumer interest.
In response to McDonald’s successful promotion, other fast casual dining chains are ramping up their own deals to compete. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell has announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King recently stated that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer, and they have also added new items to their “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
