McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which initially started on June 25, will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the U.S., although the duration of the offer may vary by restaurant, with some opting to continue until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, this deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai recently noted a significant increase in customer visits following the implementation of the meal bundle, indicating its appeal among diners.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual chains to introduce their own competitive deals. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and existing Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King previously stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offering and is also adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle, in addition to its own $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
