McDonald’s has extended its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as reported by Bloomberg based on a memo from the fast-food giant. Initially launched on June 25, most locations across the United States will continue to offer the deal, with its duration differing by location. Some franchises have even opted to keep the promotion running until August.
This extension comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s bundle an appealing option. A recent study by foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the introduction of the meal deal, indicating that it has effectively attracted patrons.
Other fast-casual dining establishments are responding to this trend with their own deals. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, and Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, along with its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In a competitive move, Burger King has stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will be available longer than McDonald’s deal, while also expanding its menu with new offerings. Wendy’s has joined the trend as well, providing a $3 breakfast bundle and a new $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
