McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week launch on June 25. The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the specific duration of the offer may vary by location, with some opting to continue it until August.
This initiative comes at a time when many consumers are facing rising food prices, particularly at fast-casual dining establishments. The $5 deal has proven effective for McDonald’s, as foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion began, indicating strong consumer interest.
Other fast-casual dining chains are responding to McDonald’s success by introducing their own deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, along with the addition of new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo referred to as the “Biggie Bag.”
