McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. The promotion, which originally launched on June 25, has received widespread support from the majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations, with about 93% of restaurants participating in the offer. However, the duration of the deal may vary by location, with some extending it until August.
This promotion comes at a time when consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, making the $5 meal deal an attractive option. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a notable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the introduction of the meal bundle, indicating its success among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s is now offering a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell announced a temporary $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Meanwhile, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering and announced the introduction of new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the discount trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
