McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks in response to consumer demand. According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. will continue offering the promotion, which originally began on June 25, for an extended period. The deal is available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the duration may vary by location, with some extending it until August.

This promotion comes at a time when many consumers are struggling with rising food costs, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 bundle has proven successful for the company, as foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s restaurants following the launch of the deal.

In light of McDonald’s successful promotion, other fast-casual chains are also reacting with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King has also made moves to compete, stating that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s offering, along with the introduction of new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is participating as well, with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
