McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. This promotion, which initially launched on June 25, has been embraced by the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S., with around 93% of restaurants participating. However, the duration of the offer may differ from one location to another, with some extending it through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be a successful strategy for attracting customers. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of this promotion led to a noticeable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s outlets.
This move seems to have sparked a competitive response among other fast-casual dining chains. In reaction to McDonald’s success, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic now offers a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box and its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box, alongside its Cravings Value Menu.
Meanwhile, Burger King has committed to extending its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the initial period of McDonald’s deal. Earlier this month, the chain also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the promotional fray, launching a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
