McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, as reported by Bloomberg citing an internal memo from the fast-food giant. The promotion, which began on June 25, will now be available at approximately 93% of U.S. locations, although the specific duration of the offer may vary by restaurant, with some extending it until August.
Amid rising food prices and tight budgets for many consumers, the meal bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, leading to increased foot traffic at its outlets. Analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant rise in customer visits shortly after the launch of the promotion, highlighting its appeal to diners.
The success of McDonald’s deal has sparked a competitive response from other fast-casual dining chains. For instance, Arby’s introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box, complementing its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s offer and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also embraced the trend, featuring a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
