McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo from the fast food chain reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which initially started on June 25, will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises opting to continue until August.
This extension comes at a time when consumers are facing high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s meal deal especially appealing. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the launch of this deal led to a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s, highlighting its popularity among diners.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with competitive deals. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has initiated a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently rolled out a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and maintained its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside its Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer. Additionally, Wendy’s has also entered the promotional fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
