Fast Food Fray: McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Sparks Rivals to Compete

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a report citing a memo from the fast food giant. This promotion, which initially began on June 25, will now be available at around 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, although the duration of the deal may vary by restaurant, with some extending it through August.

As consumers continue to face high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s has seen positive results from this bundle. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion started, demonstrating its appeal to diners.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted rival chains to introduce their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has created a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has joined the fray with a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In recent months, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for an extended period, and Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle as well as a $5 combo, known as the “Biggie Bag.”
