Fandango is expanding its on-demand streaming service, Fandango at Home, to include pay-per-view (PPV) capabilities and cable transactional video-on-demand distribution. The move is anchored by the acquisition of the PPV.com brand, a platform that has long served as the streaming home for live events such as boxing, soccer, wrestling, MMA, concerts, and comedy specials. By adding PPV and cable VOD distribution, Fandango aims to broaden both its first- and third-party live-event content and deliver a more unified viewing experience for audiences.

“This expansion represents a major leap forward in how Fandango serves fans premium content—when, where, and how they want it,” said Cameron Douglas, senior vice president of OTT/Streaming for Fandango. “iNDEMAND was best-in-class in supporting the content distribution of transactional content to the industry. By combining Fandango’s digital innovation and consumer reach with iNDEMAND’s legacy in delivering blockbuster movies, TV, and live events, we’re unlocking new possibilities for how the industry and fans access and enjoy entertainment at home.”

In its announcement, Fandango said it will broaden distribution capabilities for live events across sports, music, and cultural programming. Making PPV content available through Fandango will give content providers a platform to reach a large audience, while giving viewers the opportunity to access on-demand and PPV content on a single, unified platform.

What this means for readers and industry watchers
– For content providers: A larger, more streamlined outlet to monetize live events and premium content through both on-demand and PPV channels.
– For viewers: A one-stop platform to access both on-demand titles and live-event PPV, with the convenience of choosing how they want to watch.
– Market implications: The move underscores a growing convergence between streaming services and transactional video delivery, as platforms seek to combine flexibility with live-event access.
– Outlook: If successful, Fandango could expand its catalog of live events and potentially attract more partnerships with rights holders seeking broader distribution and stronger monetization options.

Overall, the expansion positions Fandango to cater to fans who want flexible, at-home access to premium live content and the convenience of a single hub for both on-demand and transactional viewing.
