COLLEGE TOWN, FL — Tallahassee is set for an exciting weekend as Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) Homecoming celebrations are in full swing. As festivities ramp up, attendees should be aware of important information regarding road closures, game day regulations, and parking.
The Homecoming parade kicks off at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, prompting several road closures as directed by the Tallahassee Police Department. Althea Gibson Way from Gore Avenue to FAMU Way will be blocked starting at 6:30 a.m., alongside FAMU Way from Althea Gibson Way to M.L. King Boulevard. Additionally, Perry Street will be closed from Robert & Trudie Perkins Way (Gamble Street) to Okaloosa Street, remaining shut until midnight.
Following the parade, the FAMU football game will start at 4:00 p.m. at Bragg Stadium, resulting in further road closures. Althea Gibson Way at Osceola will remain closed after the parade, with only access allowed for boosters and vendors heading north to Okaloosa Street. Other critical closures include Althea Gibson Way at Robert & Trudie Perkins Way and Eugenia Street, both restricted until the game’s conclusion. After the event, traffic will be directed away from the stadium.
For those attending the game, FAMU has specified a bag policy to ensure security. Only small personal bags such as purses and diaper bags will be permitted, with larger bags required to be made of clear plastic and adhering to specific size limitations. Numerous items are prohibited from being brought into the stadium, including alcohol, weapons, and outside food or drinks.
Parking arrangements are crucial for a smooth experience. Fans must utilize their FAMU Football game day parking permits for designated lots or find public parking off-campus. As a reminder, all campus parking will be reserved for athletics beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. RV parking is allowed at the Villages parking lot or Ardelia Court.
It is essential for fans to note the re-entry policy: once attendees leave the stadium, they are not permitted to return. Only vehicles will have access from Perry Street into the Bragg Stadium parking lot, while pedestrians will be guided to other entry points.
For further details on rules, regulations, and accommodations, attendees are encouraged to visit the FAMU Athletics website. The Homecoming festivities promise a vibrant atmosphere filled with celebration and community spirit, making it a weekend to remember in Tallahassee.
